Le Parcel Subscription Box March 2013-- Rant and Review

I have a minor rant about Le Parcel before I get into the review.. so if you would like to skip that please ignore this paragraph and scroll on down to the bottom.

Begin Rant: I placed an order for this subscription late February in hopes of receiving this by early March in time for me to ride the Crimson Wave. I was charged, via PayPal, almost immediately after I subscribed which led me to believe that I would be receiving the box on time or close to. I received the box a little over a week after my scheduled date, which is not my main qualm with Le Parcel. What bothered me was that I was NOT provided with any email notifications pertaining to my package or whether it would be able to make the scheduled dates or not... nothing was even provided when the package shipped. Finally, after two days and two emails, I received an email from Amanda informing me that I had used a fraudulent coupon code which caused the delay in processing/shipment. I have a hard time believing that load of poo for three reasons: 1. Why was the code allowed to be used and why was I not notified until I contacted them; 2. My PayPal account was charged immediately after signing up; 3. My package was not shipped until the day after I received a response, to my 2 emails, from Amanda.

Perhaps, I am just a skeptic, but I don't know if I would have even been notified or sent my package until I contacted them. I am not saying you should forgo Le Parcel if you're interested, but just be cautious and make sure you sign up early and with a "valid" coupon code. End Rant.

I paid a total of $15.50 for this box, shipping included. Amanda did honor the "fraudulent" coupon which provided a certain percentage off. My initial inclination to choose this box over MyCottonBunny or Juniper had to do with the option to choose how many of each item you would like--ie: how many tampons, how many pads, etc. There would also be an additional monthly gift along with your necessities. I think they advertise their January box on their site which came with a watch and ferrero rocher. The packaging is definitely cute and this month came with a lip balm in Champagne (which looks used or melted), 3 hair ties, 2 Lindt chocolates and a 10% coupon for the hair ties from Etsy. Personally, I do not have a problem purchasing personal hygiene products at the store. I thought this might be a nice thing to have each month, but I don't think this box is worth more than $10... if that.

Due to my frustrations and the clear lack of incentive, I decided to cancel my subscription and contacted Amanda, again,  after cancelling regarding my cancellation. I finally received a reply after about 4 or 5 days, but on their site it shows my account is still active.

*Disclaimer: I purchased subscription with my own funds and am not being paid to provide review*

  1. I agree; this subscription is horrible because of customer service. The packaging is great, but execution is horrible. I'd steer clear. I tried MCB and the Period Store. Both are excellent. No reason to go with Le Parcel.

    1. I'm sorry to hear you had a similar experience :(. I'm going to check out the Period Store because I've never heard of it until now.

  2. I just got my first box from Le Parcel, and I have to say your rant matched the same way I felt regarding the shipping. After reading a few reviews last night it seems there are quite a few people getting their boxes late. Needless to say my box was no where near worth the price I paid to subscribe. My April box included the items I asked for, 2 Lindt truffles, and a pair of really cheap gold painted anchor earrings made in Korea...pretty sure they would turn my ears green before the end of the day if I were to wear them. I made the switch over the Juniper, and their customer service is already 100% better than Le Parcel's.

    1. I only received 2 Lindt Truffles also and I, frankly, did not feel comfortable eating them and ended up tossing them. It sucks that you had a bad experience also.

Juniper's service is amazing, but I did not keep their subscription. I am glad you're enjoying their service. I heard April's box was really good.

  3. Yea I made an order also - the earrings were so cheap! Also they never sent all 30 of my items - when I let them know they said they would fix - the next box - same thing! I canceled and asked for my money back. They definitely have issues.

    1. Did they even apologize or anything at all?

  4. I just found this because I had a lot of issues with them recently, and you would think people would post on facebook. I found out first hand that they delete the comments and block you. Very unprofessional and just a side note, lisa@leparcel is one of the rudest people I have dealt with

    1. I've seen quite a few subs delete negative comments on facebook pages. It's really unfortunate to see that so many people have been having a negative experience with them.
